Vendor Spotlight: Hartung Event Design

This week we want to give a shout-out to an exceptional vendor: Hartung Event Design.

Wendy Hartung is a premier floral designer with her home base in south western Virginia where she creates STUNNING wedding designs almost exclusively for Chateau Morrisette. As such, she has a super established and awesome relationship with this vendor. For folks getting married in this little corner of the state, they have access to a high-profile New York City style designer. 621 Studios had the pleasure of working with her for Alex and Alicia’s wedding at Chateau Morrisette and honestly, it was an amazing day.

We were aware of the possibility of rain well before the ceremony started, but Chateau Morrisette doesn’t have an indoor ceremony space, so all of us on Team Bride plugged along with our fingers crossed, peeking up at the sky periodically to see if the gray clouds over head had grown. Wendy, who designs weddings at Chateau Morrisette very often, created an absolutely gorgeous floral design for this event. She was there before we arrived, flowers were already delivered to the wedding party and bride, and Wendy was working on putting together the ceremony site, decorating the garden space with her floral bouquets. I mean, an intricate, elaborate, dream of a wedding design.

Then it rained.

Suddenly, the whole event team was thrown into problem-solving mode. Myself, Sally (the in-house wedding planner at Chateau Morrisette) and Wendy all launched into action trying to find and pull together an alternative ceremony site. The energy on this team was awesome. Wendy is such a problem solver.

After some negotiations with the in-house event staff, we were able to snag the restaurant space and we invaded, taking over half of the room. With the guests waiting in another building while the rain poured down, we were all running around trying to pull the new ceremony site together. Wendy and her small pit crew had maybe an hour to pull this off. She pulled the outdoor floral design into the room, bringing the same elegance and atmosphere into a vineyard restaurant, transforming the space into a beautiful place to say “I Do!”

Honestly I don’t think you’d ever know that the design was originally supposed to be outside.

Everyone on this team was so much fun and goal-oriented. As a photographer, or event vendor of any kind, you never forget those occasions when you stumbled upon a team of strangers who just clicked as a unit. It was fun, it was fluid, and it was a fabulous success.

The piece pictured below is from another GORGEOUS wedding designed by Wendy and her team. This HUGE floral drape and all of the bouquets around it made an amazing focal piece for this wedding. Then, SHE MOVED THE WHOLE THING INSIDE FOR THE RECEPTION!
