Wedding Wednesday: Engagement - Christmas

Engagement stories are amazing. Every one of them is different and they tend to reveal little special insights into the unique relationship of the to-be-married love birds. Some are BIG - they happen in far-off destinations on exotic vacations, they’ve been planned far in advance and someone is hiding in the bushes ready to capture the big moment. Others are quiet and intimate, veiled in the sweet, soft hush of morning coffee when two people decide that life would be sweeter if they said yes to together forever. Every one of them, big or small, is magical.

My now-husband proposed on a rocky beach on a sticky June morning while we were crabbing on the York River. He caught me completely off-guard and dropped the ring in the sand from nerves. We’ve just celebrated our 6th year of marriage, but I still remember the small details. I remember the long hug after the proposal, and the rock we sat on while we made our first few phone calls, and the shark we saw only a few minutes after! I remember not catching a single crab and I remember the giddy drive home, full of tender side glances and interlaced fingers.

Everyone remembers their engagement. Now, as we’re coming up on the holiday season, SO MANY sweethearts are about to take that lover’s leap. Did you know that Christmas and New Years are the most popular days to get engaged? It’s not hard to see why. It’s all very romantic - the festive atmosphere, the nostalgia, the lights and fireplaces and family gatherings. It’s the perfect time to get down on one knee. You probably suspect one of your friends or relatives is getting engaged this year. Maybe you already know and you’re in on the secret! OR...Maybe it’s you!

And once you say YES! there will be some big decisions to make. Oh, the planning. So many questions, so much hustle and bustle. The venue, the cake, the dress. The… PHOTOGRAPHER! ;) Speaking of, you should definitely check out our wedding packages and stay tuned for our upcoming blog all about our exclusive wedding album! Tell your soon-to-be-married friends about it too!

BUT, before all of that, make sure to savor the moment. Look for the little details. The little shake of his hand. The sweet curve of her smile. These can’t be captured with a camera, so you’ll want to preserve them safe in your memory for the years to come.
